Besides degrading scenery values and causing pollution, garbage also interrupts sea turtles' egg-laying, during the breeding seasons. The garbage is especially dangerous for the Leatherback turtles that could possibly mistake the waste as food. 

The activity is part of the collaboration between the environmental networks, and J.W. Marriott. Mai Khao Community is one of the WWF-Thailand's networks which have been carrying out activities to conserve the beach and sea turtles. Such activities include surveillance of sea turtles' eggs, financial support for other accommodating activities, such as garbage clean-up diving, research on sea turtles, and such.
