The Australasian Wader Studies Group, in conjunction with Wetlands International – China, has just completed the eighth year of training, surveying and shorebird counting activities in the Chinese part of the Yellow Sea during northward migration (April-May 2004). Survey sites included Yalu Jiang National Nature Reserve and new regions in northern Jiangsu and Shandong Provinces and have turned up some very interesting distribution and movement patterns of shorebirds. The team leader Mark Barter provides a brief report, photos and count files.
