Alvin Lopez leaves Wetlands International. Alvin has been with Wetlands International since 1996. In his most recent position as the Project Leader for the Asian Wetland Inventory (AWI), he was successful in running and coordinating the AWI programme in at least 6 different Asian countries and organised a most interactive Training Needs Assessment workshop in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, early last year. Prior to this position he worked as a Technical Officer for the Integrated Management Plan of Tasek Bera Ramsar site in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. He was involved in survey designs of small mammals and other wildlife. Alvin had contributed immensely in the development of the management plan of the first Ramsar site in Malaysia especially in the Species Action Plan section. Alvin began his work with the organisation by coordinating the Asian Waterbird Census, an ongoing conservation initiative. Alvin is now moving on to take up a field ecologist position with IUCN in Cambodia. We take this opportunity to wish Alvin Lopez all the best in his future endeavors.
