We are pleased to announce that under the Netherlands DGIS Junior Expert Programme, Tunde Ojei has recently joined the Wetlands International West Africa Team as Specialist Group Network Development Officer. Tunde's background is in Fisheries management (University of Ibadan, Nigeria),and he attended the International Course on Wetlands Management (RIZA, Lelystad). He is also a certified conservation leader (WWF International College for Conservation Leadership) and has worked with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation as a Fundraiser and lately as the Wetlands Desk Officer. He was recently on secondment to WWF WARPO to support the Niger Basin Initiative before this appointment. During his three year contract Tunde's responsibilities will include:  Developing a Workplan in consultation with Specialist Group Coordinators, to support and develop the network of Specialist Groups, to be published on the wetlands international website (www.wetlands.org) and annually reviewed  Reviewing and contributing to the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), governing the relationship between each Specialist Group and Wetlands International, in order to reflect the specific targets of the workplan  Supporting Specialist Group Proposal and project development opportunities as identified in the Wetlands International global programme  Supervising effective project work delivery by Specialist Groups, as specified under specific terms of such project contracts.  Reporting on progress of Specialist Group works in annual reports to the board of Directors  Investigating Fundraising opportunities for specialist Group activities  Assisting the International Science Coordinator with the development and review of the Wetlands International Science Plan. Tunde will initially be based at our office in Dakar, Senegal before moving to the Netherlands office during the summer.
