While the northern summer resulted in a torpid news turnover, that didn't mean that things haven't been happening elsewhere on this website! First of all, we have initiated measures to improve the speed of the site. We are waiting for an imminent release of a new version of the software to improve it even further. A Directory of Wetlands of the Middle East (1995) was converted to HTML (web page format) and published on this site and now, the revised or rather "living" edition of the 1999 Ramsar Sites Directory is following in the footsteps of this transition, but with additional features linked in. The entire contents of a CD-ROM publication revealing literally almost everything about our active Russia programme has recently been posted on this site. In addition, information in Dutch on Wetlands International has been presented for our host country audience. The MedWet manuals on wetland inventory were posted on behalf of the MedWet partners, on this website, at the start of the (northern) summer. Finally, we supplemented the random wetland image gallery on our homepage with some very lovely images indeed.
