Welcome to the Ramsar Experts Database
Message for members of the Ramsar Experts Database from the Ramsar Bureau (June 2003)
As you will recall, the Ramsar Experts Database was launched in 1998 to provide a source of expert wetland consultants for the Bureau and, through the Bureau, any other organisation concerned with wetland conservation.
Due to a lack of capacity, the Bureau has been unable for a number of years to manage the database effectively and we are indeed fortunate that the newly established STRP Support Service being developed for the Convention by Wetlands International is willing to take over the management and updating of the database.
For the moment the database will be available on-line only to members of STRP (including the Ramsar STRP National Focal Points) and to the Bureau, but is not planned to be made available in a broader context for outside users. The Bureau will continue to use the database to locate experts for Ramsar related issues as before.
We hope you will continue to retain your details on the database and thank you for your support in the past.
