The fifth volume of newsletter Chilika, jointly published by Wetlands International South Asia and Chilika Development Authority, provides an update of various activities being undertaken for its conservation and wise use. The issue focuses on management planning , and has a lead article on the management planning framework for the wetland ecosystem. It is also intended for counters and all others interested in IWC. sekitarnya tersebut, kini sudah sangat terancam dan mengalami gangguan yang serius. Melihat kondisi ini, pemerintah RI melalui Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup telah menetapkan Danau Tondano menjadi salah satu dari lima belas danau prioritas di Indonesia yang harus segera dipulihkan.

The newsletter highlights the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the lead project partners to strengthen the conservation of waterbirds and wetlands, the launch of the Flyway Training Kit which is a capacity building resource that provides a flyway approach to conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats and the Critical Site Network tool that provides an access to information on waterbird species and their sites covered by the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement (AEWA).
