Leaflet - Reforesting fisheries in Aceh with Mangrove: Save the Coast

Around 26,130 hectares of mangrove are destroyed by tsunami has been rehabilitated with mangrove by various institutions. However, the most of the mangrove rehabilitation activities only took place in ex-mangrove habitat land and not in the community fishery ponds that used to be mangrove habitat too. This means that there are still fishery land that are potential to be rehabitated by planting mangrove by the pond dikes and in a little part of inner ponds by adopting silvo-fishery method. In fact, if the fishery land is reforestrated, some environmental and economic benefits can be increased.
