Waterfowl Population Estimates 1994

This report for the first timebrings together data on waterfowl populations from all over the world. It provides suggested 1% levels for some populations and, where possible, indicates trends in the development of population. This publication provides a first overview of what is known of the status of the world's waterfowl populations. It has been prepared with three objectives: to assist the identification of wetlands of international importance, using waterfowl as bioindicators, to identify priorities for conservation and reserch measures to maintain global waterfowl biodiversity, to identify gaps in our knowledge of the world's waterfowl populations and to support the development of the Ramsar, Bonn and Biodiversity Conventions.
