On World Environment Day, Wetlands International organised a mangrove replanting day in Kuala Gula. A number of restoration efforts have been carried out to re-establish degraded mangrove areas along the West Coast by the government.

In Kuala Gula, the local community is involved in the rehabilitation of the mangroves, as they are the best stewards of their own environment. Almost two thousand seedlings were planted and the site will be monitored until the end of the year by people from Kuala Gula and the forestry Department.
