Communities restore & monitor mangroves in Sedili Kecil, Johor, Malaysia

We raised awareness of the local community on the conservation of mangrove forest and also encouraged their involvement in rehabilitating and monitoring the mangrove. It dd so by strengthening the capacity of the communities to rehabilitate and monitor the mangroves and to implement techniques for sustainable use.

Wetlands International - Malaysia in partnership with the Malaysian Environmental NGO (MENGO) developed a programme empower society, mobilise community action, capitalise local knowledge and raise awareness among the public sector for Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) Wetlands International Malaysia played a coordinating role in this project.

Environmental screening study of Sungai Seria & Estuary, Brunei

Sungai Seria and its surrounding wetlands have repeatedly been recognized as an area of potential high environmental and biodiversity value. The screening should allow BSP to make a proper assessment of the Biodiversity Action Plan requirements for this area and is intended as a first step in a more elaborate assessment plan.

This project involves the establishment of the partnership for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Migratory Waterbirds and their Habitats in the East Asian – Australasian Flyway. Wetlands International has been the driving force behind the initiative.

Sharing experiences for improved peatland management planning and practice in South-east Asia

Project aimed at looking  into the erosion problem at Tanjung Piai. Tanjung Pial was designed as a Ramsar site in 2003 and the coastal mangrove is an important landmark of Malaysia: the most southern tip of the Asian Continent.
