Management planning for Loktak and associated wetlands integration in the Manipur River Basin
The project is aimed at developing and implementing a water allocation strategy balancing allocation for hydropower generation and conservation of habitat of globally endangered deer species, Cervus eldi eldi, which inhabit the lake and migratory fish species from the Chindwin-Irrawady river system. This initiative is a strategic shift from hydropower dominated water allocation system, which had led to deterioration of species habitat and dimunition of livelihoods of dependant communities..
