Wetlands for water and life

Wetlands and Livelihood Project

From January 2009 till December 2010, Wetlands International runs the Wetlands and Livelihood Programme. The programme is aimed at mainstreaming wetlands in development policies. Within this aim, the programme focuses on:

  • Inclusion of wetlans in national and international climate change adaptation and mitigation policies. Click on the links to learn more about the role of wetlands for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

  • Improvement of water policies with a focus on improving the management of river catchments areas. Click here for more information about this area of work.

The programme runs in Asia, Africa and South America. The work is funded by the Netherlands Ministry for Foreign Affairs (DGIS).
