Noelle Aarts is professor Strategic Communication at the University of Amsterdam and full professor Communication and Change in Life Sciences at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Focusing on conversations between people, she studies inter-human processes and communication for creating space for change, both in governmental organisations, in NGOs, and in commercial companies. She has published on several topics such as communication of organisations with their environment, conflict and negotiation in the domain of nature policies and land use planning, dealing with ambivalence, and network-building and self-organisation for regional innovation and multi-functional land use.
