I am Nupur and I worked in implementating Nature-based solutions using local resources in rural parts of North, West, Central India for almost 7 years. I loved my work then. Monitoring the progress, evaluating the benefit, pros and cons, socio-ecological assessments and brainstorming with the local community members to attend to a challenge or a caveat and discussions like that taught me most of the skills I currently use.
Then I moved to the Netherlands in 2018 to study wetlands, risks and uncertainties. I also interned twice with Wetlands International in 2019 and 2020 to supplement the then project with Red Cross Climate Centre ‘Partners for Resilience’ with my study in Xochimilco wetlands and urban heat island effect. I later joined the consortium between Wereld Waternet, Koninklijk Nederlands Waternetwerk and Netherlands Water Partnerships in 2020 as Content Manager and Assistant Programme Manager. I worked closely and in advisory role to the Director of the consortium on strategies and projects that would focus on innovative solutions and challenges to engage with local blue, green, brown solutions and designed their project ‘Global Inventory for Blue Green Brown Water Solutions’.
I took a sabbatical between Jan 2022 and Jan 2023 to focus on myself and in this period, I received training on advocacy writing leading me to author five articles on mental abuse in Youth Ki Awaaz/ The Voice of Youth digital platform.
I joined Wetlands International as a Technical Officer, Rivers and Lakes in April 2023 wherein I work on closing a few projects in 2023 and 2024 while working on the flagship project BLiSS, with the Program Head. I will be monitoring the progress, reporting, ensuring project deliverables, supporting with project design and proposals, upscaling, brainstorming with ideas that would support our collective cause of safeguarding and restoring wetlands.
Closely with other colleagues from Rivers and Lakes, I will contribute to designing, executing, strategizing, and reaching the goals for 2030 Strategic Intent.
In my free time, along with a few friends, I go camping, biking, go to museums, art and music concerts, exhibitions, and do clay-pottery to refresh.
