I lead our programme Coasts and Deltas, overseeing the implementation of the strategy, coordinating programme development, and supporting the implementation of projects on the ground.
Beyond conserving coastal wetlands and their unique biodiversity for future generations, I strive to make these systems an integral part of a sustainable economy. This involves promoting nature-based solutions for coastal protection and the development of coastal production systems (rice, aquaculture) that sustain and benefit from healthy wetland ecosystems. Much of this work is focused on the conservation of mangroves and associated habitats.
For my entire life I have been passionate about wetlands. I spend much of my free time in the field, ringing birds, doing wetland inventories or simply enjoying the sheer beauty of nature.
