World Water Run 2026
Ahead of World Water Day on 22 March, Wetlands International is joining forces with the global running movement Run Blue to encourage people everywhere to take action for water through the World Water Run.
From 20–22 March, thousands of people around the world will run, walk or move for water as part of this global initiative, turning individual steps into a powerful collective message: water matters, and protecting it is everyone’s responsibility.
From rivers and lakes that store and regulate water, to peatlands that act as freshwater reservoirs, to mangroves that shield coastlines, wetlands are central to ensuring water security and resilience. They’re so critical in fact, that a world without wetlands would be a world without freshwater.
When wetlands are degraded or lost, the consequences are felt immediately: water quality declines, flood risks increase, and communities become more vulnerable to water scarcity and climate impacts.
Join the World Water Run
Join the World Water Run today and help champion wetlands as a solution to the global water crisis. Every step helps raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet’s most precious resource. Together, we can run for wetlands, run for water, and run for a more resilient future.
