Our impact in 2024

• Mangrove Breakthrough: We helped shape global restoration goals, with strong traction in over 35 countries.
• Freshwater Challenge: 48 countries and the EU were on board by the end of the year – with new inventories and restoration targets being shaped, from the Sahel to Europe.
• Peatland Action: Restoration planning is accelerating in several countries, and peatlands are now embedded in EU policy through the Nature Restoration Law.
• Community-led Solutions: Whether it’s sustainable aquaculture in Southeast Asia or climate-smart agriculture in East Africa – our local partnerships are thriving.
• Influencing Global Agendas: Wetlands were centre-stage at events from the CBD COP to the UNFCCC COP, and we’re gaining real traction in policy and finance spaces.
• Restoration Guidelines: Practical tools like our salt marsh restoration guide are already being used in critical flyways like the Yellow Sea.
• Youth Engagement: Through Wetlands Futureproof, we’re empowering young people to lead – from COP events to World Wetlands Day.
