Permian Global

Wetlands International and carbon certification specialist Permian Global have been working together to safeguard and restore carbonrich wetlands since 2013. The main focus has been to establish the methodology for accounting for peatland carbon emission reductions and to establish a major project in Indonesia.

The joint project to conserve intact peatswamp forest in Katingan-Mentaya, Indonesia, financed through Permian’s marketing of carbon credits is world’s biggest Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) approved REDD+ project. Potential emissions reductions reach an average 7.4 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year.

We intend to double the area of impact to approximately 300,000ha to include the buffer zone with conservation and restoration measures, while enhancing local livelihoods.
