Known as the ‘City of 1000 tanks’, Chennai now stands out as having the lowest per capita availability of water among the major metropolitan areas in India. Working with two multi-disciplinary design teams, experts developed promising solutions that should lead to wetlands conservation in the state, a Building with Nature approach, and a multi-stakeholder process that ensures support from vulnerable communities.
