Mangrove Best Practices: Stakeholder Collaboration through Mangrove Platforms

Published on:

Mangrove conservation and restoration efforts are most effective when built on strong collaboration between the many stakeholders who depend on and influence these ecosystems. This Best Practice Leaflet highlights how multi-stakeholder mangrove platforms can align actors, strengthen coordination, and enable shared learning and decision-making.

Drawing on practical experiences, this leaflet outlines key principles and steps for establishing and sustaining inclusive platforms that support more effective, equitable, and scalable mangrove action. The mangrove platforms we helped establish in Senegal, Tanzania, Kenya, and Guinea-Bissau demonstrate a scalable model for mangrove governance and restoration by others.

By fostering collaboration across communities, governments, NGOs, and the private sector, we can create the enabling conditions needed for scaled up mangrove action and impact!
