Wetlands International appoints Han de Groot as interim CEO

Han de Groot has been appointed interim CEO by the Supervisory Council, in consultation with the Management Team of Wetlands International. He will take up his position from 20 March 2023 for a period of nine months, providing continuity while the organisation proceeds with the recruitment of a permanent CEO. 

 

Han most recently served as interim Executive Director of the Netherlands Food Partnership and previously was the Executive Director of Rainforest Alliance. He brings a wealth of experience working in international NGOs and has been active in agricultural supply chains, biodiversity, and nature conservation. Han has acted as a connector of many international Food and Agriculture companies for sustainable supply chain solutions.

Han will work with the leadership teams in the global office and across the network to ensure a smooth transition focusing on the implementation of programmes and organizational strengthening as well as maintaining momentum in our partnerships and fundraising, and continuing to raise our profile and influence.  

Jane Madgwick, CEO until 30 April, said: I am delighted that Han will step in to keep Wetlands International on course during 2023 and am confident that he will work well with our teams around the world to enable continuing progress. Han brings a wealth of relevant experience to the role as well as having the drive and personality that is needed to enable success. We will be working closely together for a smooth handover in the coming weeks.
