From Mombasa, Kenya, our teams from East Africa and the Global Office joined partners, governments, communities and investors at the 11th Our Ocean Conference under the theme “Our Ocean, Our Heritage, Our Future”.
Through panel discussions, networking events, partner meetings and community-led conversations, we highlighted the vital role of coastal wetlands in delivering for people, nature and climate, focusing on:
- Building momentum for large-scale mangrove restoration and conservation across the Western Indian Ocean and beyond
- Strengthening partnerships to scale impact in Africa and beyond
- Unlocking finance for mangroves and other coastal wetlands
- Tackling plastic pollution in coastal ecosystems
- Elevating community leadership and local action and ecological best practices for restoration and conservation
Thank you to everyone who met, collaborated and shared ideas with us in Mombasa. We leave inspired by the partnerships formed, the opportunities ahead and the growing recognition that healthy coastal wetlands are essential for generations to come.
