Nature-based Solutions are a hot topic these days. Many agree that these solutions are the best way to counter the effects of climate change. But how do you realize them? And what are the main challenges?

This event is organised as part of the Road to CAS, a series of interactive webinars focusing on  climate change adaptation, with specific attention to Nature-based Solutions, in the lead-up to the international Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS 2021).

Talk-show: success factors and barriers in Building with Nature

On 22 October Femke Tonneijck, Wetlands International’s project manager of the Building with Nature Indonesia project will contribute to the talk-show organised by the EcoShape Consortium about the successful realization of Building with Nature projects. The talk show, chaired by Annemieke Nijhof (General director of Deltares) focuses on two Building with Nature projects: Mangrove restoration in Indonesia and Marker Wadden. The project managers explain the success factors and barriers they encountered in these projects. A panel of young engineers and advisers will ask them questions about successful implementation and upscaling of these types of projects.

Book launch Netherlands

At the start of the talk show, EcoShape director Henk Nieboer hands over the pre launch edition of the book “Building with Nature – Creating, implementing and upscaling Nature-based Solutions” to Delta Commissioner Peter Glas. The book will be available in The Netherlands in the second half of November, international availability will be launched during the Climate Adaptation Summit on January 25th 2021. The Indonesia project is one of the projects featured in this book.
