Successful mangrove recovery requires the restoration of the physical environment that supports their regrowth. This means that projects should go beyond numbers of trees planted and focus on ecological recovery and addressing the root causes of mangrove loss. Moreover, for long-term restoration success, local communities should get actively involved and actively steward restored ecosystems. When they benefit directly from restored ecosystems, they are more likely to protect them for the future. Here are their stories!
